REGME is a small utility program provided by Lakes Region Emergency
Services to allow you to "register" a newer version of one of our
programs with the same update code we gave you when you registered.
One philosophy we have here and will continue to have, is once you
buy one of our commercial applications or register one of our
shareware utilities, you are entitled to subsequent releases of that
product as well at no additional charge.
REGME requires the following pieces of information in order to "register"
a program to you:
the program name (UTIL.EXE for example)
Registered Name (spelling counts !)
Serial number (8 numbers)
Update code (8 numbers)
For a period of time in mid 1993, the "update codes" that were given out
to those who registered were incorrect. Don't worry though, you can
tell and correct your code if this applies to you.
If your update code is 6 characters it is wrong, if it is 8 characters
then it is correct. Lets say your code is wrong and the code we gave
you was 123456. You need to do the following to it to come up with your
correct code.
1. Take the last two numbers. (56)
2. Take the first two numbers and place a zero
in front of it. (012)
3. Take the middle two numbers and place a zero
in front of them. (034)
4. The resulting number is your correct update code.
(56012034 in this example)
To "register" a program, put REGME.EXE in the same directory as the
program you are trying to register. Type REGME progname and the
program will prompt you for the rest of the information. For example
to register a program called UTIL.EXE you would type REGME UTIL.EXE
and enter the information requested.
REGME is provided free of charge to registered users of our programs as
long as it is not modified or used for anyone's programs but our own.
Note: REGME will modify the program when it's registered and this may
cause some virus detection programs to sound-off. REGME will only
change the program you specify on the command line so this should ease
any concerns about the REGME containing an actual virus as your virus
detection software shouldn't sense anything besides the one program.
If you have questions or experience problems registering one of our
programs, contact us at:
